Baking Scrummy Brownies

Baking Scrummy Brownies

Making brownies is a common occurrence in our house.

Need to take cakes to work… brownies.

Need to make some cakes for a party … brownies.

Rainy Sunday … brownies.

Everyone in my house likes brownies.

Even a few days old they are perfect heated up and served with some vanilla ice-cream (Green and Black’s vanilla is my personal preference.  Or Bailey’s Häagan Dazs if it is Christmas!).

I make these so often I have them done in around 15 mins and popped in the oven.  Although I know all the ingredients off by heart.  So why not give it a go?

What you need to make Brownies:

  • Sugar – 300g
  • Flour – 130g
  • Dark Chocolate – 200 g
  • Butter – 175g
  • 3 Eggs

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 3, or 170 degrees C.

How to Make Brownies

Melt the Butter and chocolate.  If you are doing it the right way you will melt it slowly over a pan filled with hot water.  I will admit though, I just pop it in the microwave for speed!

Mix the butter and chocolate in with the sugar.  Then sift in the flour and mix together.  Once combined add in the 3 eggs.  It will give it a oily consistency.

Then pop in a long flat dish.  I tend to line it with baking paper, however if you don’t have any to hand grease with butter instead.

Pop in the oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is starting to crack. I personally like my brownies a little gooey so I don’t like to leave them in too long.

That is it, really very simple.  If I am pushing the boat out I sometimes add a little extra into the mixture – white chocolate buttons chopped up, chocolate orange pieces or even a little bit of chilli makes a nice change.

Why not give it a try this weekend and let me know how you get on?  I would love to know what you think.
