Nutty Putty -

This week we have been getting creative with ‘nutty putty’ and the boys have had a blast!

My two absolutely adore play-do  Although they have one fundamental issue with it – you always have to put it away at the end of the day.  You can’t keep your creations, or they turn into a dried-out, crumbly mess.

So, when Wicked Uncle asked us to review some products, we chose Nutty Putty – the mouldable, squishable, silicon-based toy – and discovered it is the answer to our problems.  For those who are unaware of this product, once you have made your creations, you can bake them in the oven and keep them forever.

This product won the 2015 Independent Toy Award and, having reviewed it, I can understand why.

The Wicked Uncle Website

The most fun part of the experience was browsing the Wicked Uncle website. It was simple and straightforward to use – and they deliver to BFPO addresses too which is a major plus!

The website has so many fun options for present ideas I could have looked at it all day.

One of the things I liked about the website is being able to gift wrap and send presents direct to others.  This will come in handy for anyone looking for a pressie for someone who lives in a different city.  Fun ideas sent direct.

Perfect!

What Do you get in the Nutty Putty Box?

“Think it, Make it … even bake it!”

So, what do you get for your money?  Well the answer is… a lot.  When you open the box you will find:

  • 5 different Nutty Putty colours plus a bonus black colour
  • 2 tools
  • 4 shape cutters
  • 1 baking sheet
  •  a roller
  • 1 play mat (with project instructions)

So as you can see, plenty to keep little hands busy on a rainy day!

I am creative but I have to admit when it comes to making things like this I am sometimes stuck for ideas.  So I loved that this came with ideas and instructions.  This meant we could make: a lollipop tree, a snail, a butterfly, a penguin, a lion and a car – to name just a few.  The instructions were easy and simple to follow, and the kids had a great time creating, baking and then playing with Nutty Putty.

I loved that the kids were deep in concentration when making their designs.  With Nutty Putty, they could explore their creativity and when they were playing with this I could see the clear benefits of the product as it helps to develop their fine motor skills.  I also notice on the box that this product conforms to EYFS standards and National Curriculum Key Stage Targets.

Nutty Putty

What is Nutty Putty?

Here is the good bit! Nutty Putty is made of unique silicone.  So what does this mean?  Well it is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, non-drying and non-messy!  Music to a parent’s ears!

So really this product is a huge win-win for us.  The kids loved it and keep grabbing the box to make new things whenever we have a spare moment.  They have also played endlessly with their creations, which turn rubbery and waterproof once baked in the oven.  I enjoyed helping them with the activity and loved to see their minds whirl with ideas when using their imagination.

That sounds like so much fun Yvonne and what a bonus that they get to keep their creations afterwards too. I might just order some for myself, grown ups can play too, right?

What a fun product. I love your kids creations and the pictures of them in “deep concentration”. Will look at Wicked Uncle for grandkids presents!
